What is included in the Free Trial?
The Free Trial gives you 3 sessions using Specter's built-in API. You get core question detection and answer streaming on a single monitor with the SWE role only. Race Mode, audio capture, multi-panel, answer refinement, code runner, session debrief, and history beyond 5 entries are all locked behind Starter or Pro.
What is the difference between Starter and Pro?
Starter ($9/mo) requires you to bring your own API key (BYOK) from Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic. Pro ($19/mo) includes $20 of bundled API credits each month — so you never need to sign up with an AI provider. Both plans are otherwise identical in features.
Why charge for BYOK (Starter) if I supply my own API key?
Great question. You're paying for the Specter application itself — the stealth overlay, Race Mode dual-LLM engine, multi-monitor parallel capture, multi-panel workspaces, code runner, and more. The API key covers your AI usage costs; $9/month covers the tool. At $9/mo, it's still 70% cheaper than Chiku AI or Parakeet, which don't even offer BYOK.
What does "$20 of API credits" cover in Pro?
$20 of Gemini 2.0 Flash credits covers approximately 500–700 interview questions — roughly 20–30 full interview sessions per month. Most users never exhaust their monthly credits.
What happens if I use all my Pro credits?
Specter automatically falls back to your BYOK key if you've configured one. If not, you'll get an in-app notification. Credits reset on your monthly billing date.
Can I switch plans mid-month?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. Your settings, history, and data are always preserved regardless of plan.
Do unused Pro credits roll over?
Credits reset monthly and do not roll over. They remain available until your next billing date — so you always have the full month to use them.
